    • Description

On 26 November Ariane V198, an Ariane 5 version, will launch from Kourou in French Guyane, two telecom satellites: Intelsat 17 and Hylas 1.

Hylas stands for Highly Adaptable Satellite and is indeed a very special satellite, the results of a partnership between ESA and Avanti, a new satellite operator, to launch the first European satellite dedicated to deliver broadband Internet access to consumers and businesses across Europe as well as support a range of conventional telecommunications services.

For ESA Hylas marks also the first launch of a Telecom satellite in ten years opening a new approach in this field.

This video news release explains Hylas innovative mission and partnership.
