The opportunity this presents for Europe’s industry is undeniable – as is the fact that institutional support is needed to help European industry capitalise on this expanding domain and strengthen its position on the global stage, integrating space services into European society and increasing its autonomy. Under ESA’s lead, public–private partnerships in these areas are being advanced to cultivate the applications in both commercial and institutional markets, supporting national developments and cooperating with Europe-wide initiatives to support the massive future civil demand on commercial and governmental systems.
