English Matthias’ Christmas Message from Space | Cosmic Kiss

ESA astronaut Matthias Maurer shares a message with everyone on Earth as he and his crew prepare to celebrate Christmas on board the International Space Station ISS.

Cosmic Kiss is Matthias' first mission to the International Space Station ISS. This makes spending holiday celebrations such as Christmas and New Year’s in orbit an extraordinary experience.

Matthias shares some traditions, such as the ISS Christmas tree and a delicious Christmas dinner that the entire crew will enjoy together on board the ISS. He also explains when Christmas presents are unwrapped by the international crew amidst German, American and Russian traditions and reveals what presents he has brought for his colleagues.

Matthias was launched to the International Space Station on Crew Dragon Endurance as part of Crew-3 at 02:03 GMT/03:03 CET Thursday 11 November 2021. During his Cosmic Kiss mission, Matthias Maurer is expected to spend six months living and researching on the ISS, conducting and supporting more than 35 European and many other international experiments.

German Matthias’ Weihnachtsgrüße aus dem All | Cosmic Kiss

ESA-Astronaut Matthias Maurer sendet Weihnachtsgrüße von der Internationalen Raumstation ISS zur Erde, während er und seine Crew sich auf die Weihnachtsfeier an Bord vorbereiten.

Cosmic Kiss ist Matthias Maurers erste Mission zur ISS und im Orbit werden Feiertage wie Weihnachten und Neujahr zu einem außergewöhnlichen Erlebnis.

Maurer erzählt von weihnachtlichen Traditionen, wie z. B. dem ISS-Weihnachtsbaum und einem leckeren Weihnachtsessen, das die gesamte Crew an Bord der Raumstation gemeinsam genießen wird. Er erklärt auch, wann in einem internationalen Team zwischen deutschen, amerikanischen und russischen Traditionen die Weihnachtsgeschenke ausgepackt werden, und verrät, welche Geschenke er für seine Kollegen mitgebracht hat.

Während seiner Cosmic Kiss-Mission wird Matthias Maurer voraussichtlich sechs Monate lang auf der ISS leben und forschen und mehr als 35 europäische und zahlreiche weitere internationale Experimente durchführen und unterstützen.
