Interview with ESA project astronaut Marcus Wandt during his training at the European Astronaut Centre in Cologne, Germany, in August 2023.
Marcus talks about his training and how he is preparing for his mission to the International Space Station. He discusses the challenges, the elements of his patch and a very special object that he will bring to space.
The Swedish astronaut is currently following a training programme to live and work in space, and meet the high standards required for human space flight. Marcus’s training takes place in Europe, USA, Canada, and Japan. He is getting ready to jump on a commercial spaceflight opportunity with Axiom Space.
Marcus Wandt, 42, was selected in November 2022 as a member of the ESA astronaut reserve after a year-long selection process. The 2022 ESA recruitment campaign received over 22 5000 applications from across its Member States.
