MTG‑I2 is the second imaging satellite of the Meteosat Third Generation (MTG) system, a European geostationary meteorological constellation developed by EUMETSAT in cooperation with ESA. MTG introduces high‑resolution imaging and new data products for improved weather forecasting and the nowcasting of severe weather events over Europe.
