Space Shuttle Discovery launched on the 10 August 2001 for a 12 day mission to the ISS. The principal purpose of the mission was the changeover of the Expedition 2 crew:
Commander: Yury Usachev
Flight Engineers: Jim Voss and Susan Helms
with the new expedition 3 crew:
Commander: Frank Culbertson
Pilot: Vladimir Dezhurov
Engineer: Mikhail Tyrurin.
The rest of the STS-105 crew comprised of Commander Scott J Horowitz, Pilot Frederick (Rick) W Struckow, Mission Specialists Patick G Forrester and Daniel T Berry.
The mission saw the delivery of supplies and equipment in the Leonardo Multi Purpose Logistic Module (MPLM). Two spacewalks were also carried out in order to prepare the International Space Station for future construction.
