This year, Astro Pi Mission Space Lab challenges young people with a brand-new scientific task: “To calculate the speed of the ISS using the sensors and camera of the Astro Pi computer”. Two webinars were already organized in November 2023 and January 2024 for teams participating in the Astro Pi Mission Space Lab Challenge 2023/2024.

On 23 November 2023, mentors and team members were invited to the first webinar “Getting started with Mission Space Lab”. During this webinar, teams were introduced to the new challenge and a demonstration was given on how to use the Astro Pi Replay tool. This is a new tool in Thonny (a Python IDE) that simulates code in the Astro Pi environment on the International Space Station.
