Eurobot makes a splash

Eurobot is lowered into the water

Eurobot is lowered into the Neutral Buoyancy Facility at the European Astronaut Centre (EAC), in Cologne, Germany. Under the watchful eye of the Test Director, Hervé Stevenin, the Eurobot WET model is lowered into the pool ahead of testing to verify the operational concept for Eurobot.

Eurobot testing EAC

Testing the Eurobot WET model in the 'Neutral Buoyancy Facility' at the European Astronaut Centre (EAC). Eurobot is seen moving along the exterior of a model representing the European Columbus laboratory. Eurobot uses the EVA handrails to walk around autonomously. Eurobot successfully demonstrates the interaction between a robot and an astronaut - it grasps a tool and hands it to the astronaut. (9 times actual speed)

ESA astronaut Jean-François Clervoy prepares to take part in the underwater trials with the Eurobot WET Model.

Eurobot provides EVA support
