Überwachung der Überschwemmungen in Mitteleuropa aus dem All ![]() An ERS-2 multitemporal radar composite of a stretch of the Inn River along the German/Austrian border in the vicinity of Braunau. The Inn River is one of several rivers reported to be experiencing surges following Alpine valley floods in late August 2005. Like its sister spacecraft Envisat, ERS-2 carries a Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) instrument that can look through clouds, rain or local darkness. This is a composite of two radar images, one acquired on 20 July 2005, the other acquired 24 August 2005. Dark blue and black colours indicate water surfaces. ![]() This image is the larger ERS-2 multitemporal radar composite from which the detail is taken - the Inn River is towards the top of the image, with Salzburg visible at the image base. Desaster-Charta in der Schweiz ausgerufen / Nutzung in Deutschland ![]() This detail from a larger Envisat multitemporal radar composite shows the town of Landshut on the Isar River. Note small lakes along the Isar in dark blue or black. This is a combination of images acquired 24 August 2005 and 11 May 2005. Release date: 26 August 2005 |
