Earth from Space: Iceberg knocks the block off Drygalski Ice Tongue

This animation, comprised of images acquired by Envisat’s Advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar (ASAR), shows the C-16 iceberg and the Drygalski Ice Tongue before and after the collision that took place on 30 March 2006.

Collision
 
This annotated 15 April 2005 ASAR Wide Swath Mode image shows the aftermath of an ice collision between the B-15A iceberg and the Drygalski ice tongue. Note a drifting piece of the ice tongue towards the image top.
