The first set of images obtained by the AVHRR instrument in the infrared wavelengths. The infrared channels were switched on as the satellite was passing over the Dongara station in Australia. The images show the temperature contrast between the waters of Lake Baikal in Russia and the surrounding land. Also visible in the images is the north coastline of Siberia. All the instrument telemetries were within the expected limits and the instrument is ready to start the verification phase before becoming fully operational.Data recorded on 21 November 2006.
