On 27 May 2025, the European Space Agency (ESA) inaugurated the European Space Deep-Tech Innovation Centre (ESDI), the first ESA presence in Switzerland, created in collaboration with the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI). The centre is located at the Switzerland Innovation Park Innovaare in Villigen, next to PSI.
During the event, ESA Director of Commercialisation, Industry and Competitiveness Geraldine Naja (pictured on right), together with Joanne Sieber, CEO of Deep Tech Nation Switzerland Foundation, also signed a Memorandum of Understanding to stimulate synergies and create strong connections between the space sector and the Swiss deep tech ecosystem, and to build, nurture and expand a deep tech for space community.
