Asteroid (424482) 2008 DG5 will safely fly past Earth on 5 June 2025 at 23:57 UTC (6 June, 01:57 CEST). It is between 300 and 700 m across, which is large for an asteroid, and will come as close as approximately nine times the average distance between Earth and the Moon.
The large asteroid passes Earth 15 times between 1956 and 2125. The approach in June 2025 will be the closest of them all. However, at a little over nine times as far away as the Moon, even this pass is no cause for concern.
