Mornos Reservoir receding waters

This Copernicus Sentinel-2 image shows the receding waters of the Mornos Reservoir in south-central mainland Greece on 9 October 2025. 

Owing to extreme heatwaves and a lack of rainfall, the Mornos Reservoir, a primary water source for Athens, experienced severe depletion in 2025, with water levels reaching a 15-year low by October.
