The European Enhanced Exploration Exercise Device (E4D) set up in its cycling configuration at the European Astronaut Centre (EAC) in Cologne, Germany.
This advanced exercise system is designed to maintain muscle and bone health during long-duration missions and can simulate different gravity levels, from Earth to Mars.
Scheduled to arrive on the International Space Station in April 2026 during ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot’s εpsilon mission, E4D will undergo installation in the European Columbus module followed by a technology demonstration phase where several crew members will test up to 100 exercise variations.
