This stereoscopic image shows part of Mamers Valles, a huge valley system in Mars’s northern hemisphere. It was generated from data captured by the High Resolution Stereo Camera on ESA’s Mars Express orbiter on 7 December 2024 (orbit 26423). The anaglyph offers a three-dimensional view when viewed using red-green or red-blue glasses.
[Image description: A greyscale image of the surface of Mars, with an area of lower land running between the left and centre of the frame. Large islands dot the lower land, and steep cliffs appear to divide the lower and higher land. The right side of the landscape is smoother and slightly darker. A small scale bar at the bottom right indicates that north is to the left, and that a line approximately one tenth of the image width is 20 km long. At the top right of the image is an icon of a pair of 3D (red-blue) glasses, indicating that the viewer can see the image in three dimensions when viewing using special glasses.]
