    • Description

ESA’s CryoSat ice mission has returned a wealth of information that has transformed our understanding of Earth’s ice and how it is responding to climate change. However, measurements of sea-ice thickness during the Arctic summer months have been thwarted by an issue of dazzle from pools of meltwater on the ice surface. Scientists have now resolved this by applying artificial intelligence to the data and have yielded the first ever continuous, year-round, altimetry measurements of sea-ice thickness in the Arctic Ocean.
