Andres Käosaar

I am Andres Käosaar, a junior researcher in the field of teamwork in isolated, confined, and extreme environments.
I graduated MA studies in Psychology from University of Tartu in Estonia in June 2021 and will continue with a PhD in University of Central Florida. My PhD research will focus on Cultural Diversity and Interpersonal relationships in Small Action Teams: Analysis and Potential Countermeasures for Long-Duration Space Missions, which is composed of two projects funded by NASA.
In the ACT, I am working on the project Social psychology of past polar exploration. I am analysing Robert Falcon Scott’s journal from Terra Nova expedition to South Pole (1910-1913) and Ernest Shackelton’s journal from Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1914-1917) through the behavioural sequence analysis (BSA) method to discover interpersonal patterns and team mechanisms regarding difficulties and conflicts in isolated, confined, and extreme environments. This research helps ESA to understand the behavioural mechanisms which might take place in future long-duration space exploration.
In my free time I can be found practicing different outdoors sports, travelling around the globe or working on some new project.
