Benedetta Marazzato

Hi! I’m Benedetta, and I joined the Advanced Concepts Team in September 2025 as an ESA Graduate Trainee in Extreme Space Systems.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Padua and a master’s degree in aerospace engineering from the Polytechnic of Turin, where I specialized in Space systems.

For my master’s thesis, I worked on the preliminary design of a satellite mega-constellation to harvest solar energy in space and wirelessly transmit it to Earth (space-based solar power technology). Through this project, I explored an emerging technology with significant potential to address the world’s growing energy needs, while gaining experience in thermal analysis, mission design, constellation geometry, and the challenges of large-scale space systems.

During my studies, I was also part of my university’s rocket team and took part in a space sustainability challenge, a topic I consider essential for the future of space exploration. Before joining the ACT, I worked for a short period on a research grant, during which I collaborated with a start-up in Turin (Space V) on their project of an adaptive greenhouse for space, focusing on system engineering aspects. In the coming year, I’m excited to deepen my expertise and explore new research directions.

Outside of work, I love going to the gym to lift weights (but lately, I’ve been trying to take up running too), watching food review videos on YouTube and reading books.
