Camilla Agabiti
I joined the ACT as a visiting researcher within my PhD program. I am currently in the final year of my PhD in Biorobotics at the BioRobotics Institute of Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa, Italy.
The objective of my PhD research is to develop bioinspired modelling and control strategies for soft robots. Specifically, I am studying a control strategy for soft robotic arms designed for space debris capture. This grasping strategy is inspired by the dexterity and adaptability of the elephant trunk when grabbing objects. During my research period at the ACT, I look forward to implementing machine learning technique to achieve a smart grasping of orbiting object. I firmly believe in the high potential of soft robots to cope with the harsh conditions of the space environment!
Before my PhD, I got my Master’s Degree in Space Engineering and my Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, both from the University of Pisa.
Apart from my studies, swimming has been a passion of mine since my childhood, and I have recently started participating in open water competitions. I also love hiking, having picnics in nature and cooking!
