Ioannis Liodis

I am an intern at the Advanced Concepts Team (ACT) of the European Space Agency since June 2024.
I did my BSc in Physics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and I am currently doing my MSc in Gravitation and Astroparticle Physics at the University of Amsterdam. For my bachelor's thesis I used artificial neural networks to speed-up the calculation of neutron star's macroscopic properties in a modified theory of gravity, contributing to the investigation of the equation of state versus gravity degeneracy.
I am particularly keen on the intersection of theory and observations, especially when combined to answer fundamental questions about the Universe. For my internship I am investigating the effects of Scalar-Tensor-Vector Gravity on stellar orbits around a black hole, with the ultimate aim to constrain its parameters using real data.
My favourite activity is playing escape rooms and solving riddles. I also enjoy exercising, listening to music and, of course, eating souvlakia!
