Johannes Pseiner

Since starting in January 2022, I am a Research Fellow in Fundamental Physics in the ACT.

My scientific journey began at the Technical University in Vienna, where I studied Technical Physics specializing on Solid State Physics within my master studies. I wrote my master thesis at the Institute of Applied Physics under Prof. Werner, for which I measured the shell thickness of core-shell nanoparticles via X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS). In my PhD, I worked at the Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information (IQOQI) as part of the Austrian Academy of Science in Vienna. There, I performed experiments on photonic quantum states in the groups of Prof. Anton Zeilinger and Dr. Rupert Ursin.

For more insights, an overview of my research can be found here.

Before and during my studies, I gained space-related working experience in industry at the RUAG Space and European Space Policy Institute (ESPI). In 2021, I joined ESA as a Visiting Scientist in TEC-MME (Optoelectronics Section), where I supported ESA's efforts on Quantum Technologies in Space (especially Quantum Key Distribution and Quantum Metrology).

My interests lie in exploring the foundations of Quantum Theory to shed a light on the counter-intuitive world of Quantum Physics. Moreover, I am fascinated by Quantum Technologies that base on fundamental principles of Quantum Physics. My main are of expertise is Quantum Communication with photons, with great passion for Quantum Metrology and Quantum Optics as well.

In my personal life, I love to do sports (football, swimming), play music (guitar, piano) and have recently ventured into photography with DSLR.
