Liv Moretto Sørensen

Hi there! I'm Liv, a biomimetics Young Graduate Trainee in the ACT (since Oct 2021).

Before joining the ACT I lived in Copenhagen, where I obtained both my M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Physics from the Niels Bohr Institute. Throughout my studies I have been collaborating with and visiting labs from different universities, such as the Ludwig-Maximilian-Universität in Munich, the Technical University of Denmark and Harvard Medical School.

I mostly work at the intersection between physics and biology. My way here started with an early fascination of the human hearing system. Now, I have worked with a row of complex systems exhibiting temporal dynamics, through which I have tried to obtain better understandings of the underlying mechanisms.

In the ACT, my goal is to apply our current knowledge of biological sensory and regulatory mechanisms to technological ideas or solutions. I am excited to see where this work will lead me!

My newest hobbies are bouldering and lino printing, both hobbies I have taken up after moving to the Netherlands. Besides that, I have played in orchestras almost continuously the last 15 years, I experiment with my grandparents' old analogue cameras, and I love to explore nature by foot, kayak, bike - you name it! Last summer, I spent around 6 weeks living on a sailboat exploring the beautiful Danish coast.

Feel free to reach out to me through mail (tni.ase@nesneros.otteromvil or find me on LinkedIn, if there is anything you feel like discussing!
