Vera Leeman

Hi, my name is Vera Leeman and I joined the ACT in May 2025 as an intern, where I'm researching a bird-inspired stabilization system.
I completed my bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering at the University of Twente and am now specializing in biorobotics, where I focus on applying robotic principles to medical applications. Furthermore, I was involved with Solar Team Twente, where I spent a year building (and driving!) a solarcar to compete in an international 8-day challenge in South Africa. However, my true fascination has always been space-oriented, and therefore I am very excited to apply both my engineering and biological knowledge at the ACT.
In my free time I love to go to the mountains! Unfortunately, the Netherlands lacks vertical meters, but when the weather is right, I love taking trips to go rock climbing (and in winter, you can often find me hanging around in indoor climbing halls).
I'm excited to learn from all the innovative and diverse research happening at the ACT, and I feel privileged to be part of this team.
