ESA's 50th anniversary arrives in Africa

At the festive inauguration of the African Space Agency (AfSA) in Cairo, ESA Director of Internal Services Marco Ferrazzani raised in his address the wish that AfSA shall be able to celebrate its prosperous 50th anniversary, when ESA will become 100. This wish was well received by AfSA and audience.

The anniversary theme was then further elaborated in a meeting with the Vice President of AfSA, Ms Thandikile Mbvundula. ESA's 50th anniversary coordinator Kai-Uwe Schrogl presented the plan to hold a workshop with all regional space organisations from Africa, Latin America and the Carribean, Asia Pacific, the Gulf and Europe with ESA as the host in the framework of the 50th anniversary.

AfSA was excited to enter into such a sharing of practices, experiences and expectations. The photo shows Ms Thandikile Mbvundula congratulating ESA on its anniversary and looking forward to the exchanges among the regions.
