Robotic Exploration is the optional part of the Directorate of Science and Robotic Exploration. It consists of the ExoMars programme and the MREP Programme. Whereas the ExoMars programme implements two missions to Mars, the 2016 Trace Gas Orbiter (TGO) mission and the 2018 Rover mission, the Mars Robotic Exploration Preparation (MREP) programme is intended to prepare Europe's future contribution to the international exploration of Mars.
