It’s hard to believe, but it’s already been ten weeks since we launched our call for new astronauts. With just one week to go, we’re already feeling nostalgic looking back at the best moments of the campaign so far. David Parker introduces the ESA astronaut selection

ESA Director of Human and Robotic Exploration, David Parker, introduces the ESA astronaut selection and the qualities we are looking for in our new recruits. Host Ally Koehler asks about the newly introduced 'Parastronaut Fly!' feasibility project open to qualified candidates living with a physical disability, and David reveals whether or not he has astronaut aspirations.

Thomas Pesquet shares his tips

In 2008, Thomas Pesquet applied to become an ESA astronaut. On 23 April 2021, he began his second mission to the International Space Station. In this video Thomas shares how he found his way to space, and encourages viewers to follow their passions as ESA seeks its next class of astronauts.

  

 

The first ESA Astronaut Selection Careers Fair

Samantha Cristoforetti, Thomas Reiter and André Kuipers have all flown in space as ESA astronauts and offered their perspectives on the selection process and the work and life of an astronaut during the ESA Astronaut Careers Fair on 22 April 2021.

As part of the instructor training team for ESA's European Astronaut Centre, Misbahur Rehman-Saad puts astronauts and flight control teams through their paces. Here he talks more about the role of the flight directors and ground support teams who keep the International Space Station running smoothly, and training astronauts on the European Columbus laboratory's systems and hardware.
