Introducing the new ECSL Executive Secretary

The ECSL is proud to announce that Chehineze Bouafia (France) will take over the role as the ECSL Executive Secretary from the 1st of March.

Before joining the ECSL, Chehineze was working at the Institute of space law and telecommunication (IDEST) as a research and project coordinator. Responsible for the organisation and management of conferences and workshops related to space law, she also contributed to the drafting of legal articles in international public law and cybersecurity.

Chehineze gained experience working in the Innovation Department of Alerion law firm, mainly as compliance & regulatory advisor for clients from the aerospace sector, providing them with legal solutions. She had the opportunity to work on projects with the French aerospace industry regarding a variety of legal issues, including space law. As part of her expertise, she also intervened on data privacy, cybersecurity and export control matters.  

Chehineze holds a Master’s degree in Space Activities and Telecommunication Law from Paris-Sud University, known for providing both technical and legal courses tailored for the aerospace sector. She also graduated from international law that she studied in both Paris-Sud University and Monash University. Her thesis on legal aspects of outer space reconnaissance tackles inter alia the legal, technical, political and strategic dimensions of these activities in outer space.

Chehineze is also a member of the Société Française de droit aérien et spatial.
