Each year the ECSL organises, together with the International Institute of Space Law (IISL), the European Rounds of the Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court (MLMC) Competition. Regional winners from Europe, Asia-Pacific, Africa and North America then compete in the World Finals which are held in conjunction with the annual International Astronautical Congress.

The World final of the Manfred Lachs Moot Court Competition has the distinction of being judged by three sitting judges of the International Court of Justice. We are pleased that in 2016 Europe - represented by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens - won the World Final.

The 2017 MLMC European Rounds

The 2017 European Regional Round took place from 10 - 12 May 2017 at the University of Helsinki, Finland. 14 teams competed in the competition, with the Final being composed of the University of Helsinki vs. the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. In the end, Athens won the European Round in a team made up of:

- Ms. Yvonni-Kyriaki Vastaroucha

- Ms. Iliana Griva

- Ms. Pelagia-Ioanna Ageridou

The ECSL wishes to congratulate the team on this victory, and looks forward to their representation during the 2017 World Finals which will be held in Adelaide, Australia later this year.
