ESA / About Us / ECSL - European Centre for Space Law

2020 has been a strange and challenging year for everyone, to say the least.

We have faced a tough year together, but this has also demonstrated how our passion and engagement in fulfilling our missions is truly key, especially in such circumstances. Together, we adapted, swiftly, created new ways to communicate, to stay in touch and most importantly, to continue serving as a forum for all stakeholders involved in the space sector, from industry, institutions, the academic community and students.

We offered opportunities for students involved in the Manfred Lachs Competition to keep on with the Moot adventure virtually, first during the European Rounds and then for the World Finals. We had the great pleasure to hear presentation from young lawyers in the field, to offer publication opportunities and to organise online events with high-level experts for the wider public etc..

While the beginning of the year 2021 will still be filled with uncertainties, it is important to continue drawing hope, strength and inspiration. We hope that light will soon rise upon these troublesome times, just like the light from this supernova remnant blast, arrived at Earth 1700 years ago, and captured by Hubble (see picture above).

Last but not least, the ECSL wishes to sincerely thank you for following us with trust and intense involvement, as we look forward to enter the 2021 spaceship with you by our side. Ad astra !
