To mark the imminent launch of Artemis, ESA’s new telecommunications satellite, ESA will be giving away a unique Artemis rucksack every day from now until the launch.

The competition is open to young people aged 10 to 16 living in one of the 15 ESA Member States. All they have to do is to answer correctly four easy questions about Artemis and email their reply to ESA. One winner will be selected at random each weekday from all the correct entries received, and the names of the winners will be posted on the website every week.

Artemis is the latest telecommunications satellite to be developed by ESA and its innovative design includes new technology never before used in a telecommunications satellite. As well as improving mobile communications services and inter-satellite data relay, Artemis will also play an important role in the development of Galileo, Europe’s new worldwide satellite navigation system.

At present Artemis is undergoing final preparation and testing at Europe’s spaceport in Kourou. If all goes well, it will be sent into orbit by an Ariane-5 launcher on 12 July. You can follow the launch campaign on the new Artemis launch page opened today.

Would you like to take part in this new competition or do you know someone who would be interested? You can find all the details of the competition on the Artemis launch page.
