This workshop is organised in the frame of ESA's Marine-Atmosphere eXtreme Satellite Synergy (MAXSS) project, whose objective is to maximize the synergetic use of Earth observation data to improve our understanding of the multi-scale dynamical characteristics of extreme air-sea interaction events. The objective of the workshop is to present the main results of the MAXSS project in terms of new products and scientific analysis, to review the existing methods and models for retrieving and monitoring ocean-surface extreme surface winds and storm-induced waves from space, and to collect feedback and recommendations from the scientific community for new initiatives to be implemented.

The EGU General Assembly 2023 brings together geoscientists from all over the world to one meeting covering all disciplines of the Earth, planetary, and space sciences. The EGU aims to provide a forum where scientists, especially early career researchers, can present their work and discuss their ideas with experts in all fields of geoscience.

ISRSE is widely acknowledged to be one of the most significant gatherings of the international remote sensing community. The Symposium attracts senior staff of space agencies and international Earth observation programmes and thereby provides a global overview of advances in Earth observation and the consequential societal benefits.
