MTG-I patch

Europe's Meteosat Third Generation (MTG) programme comprises two types of satellite: the Imaging satellite (MTG-I) and the Sounding Satellite (MTG-S).

MTG-I satellites boast two new highly-sensitive instruments: a Flexible Combined Imager and a Lightning Imager. In 2022, MTG-I1 was the first satellite to be launched in the overall MTG mission. 

This third generation of weather satellites will not only guarantee the continuity of data for weather forecasting from geostationary orbit for the next two decades, but will also take weather forecasting to the next level.
