ESA project astronaut Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski will conduct a variety of science experiments and technology demonstrations during the Ignis mission. Sławosz will carry out 13 experiments proposed by Polish companies and institutions and developed together with ESA. Grouped into four key areas, this mission will contribute to advancing our understanding of human health, technology, materials science and biotechnology in space, while offering solutions and insights that can also benefit life on Earth.
To ensure astronauts have reliable medicines during long missions, this biotechnology experiment examines whether storing drugs in a polymer carrier can extend their shelf life. By testing popular medicines on the Space Station, the study addresses the challenge of medical resupply in remote environments like the Moon.
