MTG-I2 in the cleanroom at Thales

The Meteosat Third Generation (MTG) Imager weather satellite, MTG-I2, on show at Thales Alenia Space cleanrooms in Cannes, France, where it's being prepared for its upcoming launch in September 2026.

Part of the MTG constellation – two are already in orbit – MTG-I2 will produce images for weather forecasting in Europe in unprecedented detail. The MTG mission provides completely new data products and capabilities for European weather services, especially suited to nowcasting of severe weather events.
