First change of command ceremony (Exp 74/75)

Here's what ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot had to say on social media about the change of command ceremony:

Day 166, orbit 2772 — What a special moment! On July 25, Sergey Kud-Sverchkov handed over command of the International Space Station to my friend, and Crew-12 commander, Jessica Meir. 

The handover took place during a short but solemn ceremony, broadcast live to Earth and attended by the entire crew. In addition to the speeches:

• Sergey handed Jessica the ISS “key”. It’s a replica of the key used to open the hatches leading to the Russian Orbital Segment (RSOS). The gesture is symbolic, of course… we don’t actually « lock doors » on the ISS! Ahah! - we « lock » hatches, but it has a slightly different meaning than « locking doors » on Earth.
• Jack also rang the bell, a naval tradition used to mark key moments onboard.

As ISS commander, it’s now Jessica’s responsibility to look after the safety, health, and well‑being of the Expedition 75 crew. She will also be our main point of contact with the flight director for all activities and operations carried out on the ISS.

Jour 166, orbite 2772 — Que d’émotion ! Le 25 juillet, mon amie (et commandante de Crew-12) Jessica Meir a reçu le commandement de la Station des mains de Sergueï Koud-Svertchkov. 

Cette passation de commandement s’est effectuée lors d’une courte cérémonie très solennelle, retransmise en direct sur Terre, et à laquelle assistait tout l’équipage. En plus des discours, 

• Sergueï a transmis la clé de la Station à Jessica – Il s’agit en fait d’une réplique de l’outil permettant d’ouvrir les écoutilles de la station. Le geste est symbolique, nous ne fermons jamais réellement à clé ! Haha !
• Jack a sonné une cloche, un geste hérité de la marine qui permet de marquer les grands événements à bord d’un navire.

En tant que commandant de la Station spatiale internationale, c’est désormais à Jessica de veiller à la sécurité, à la santé et au bien-être des membres de l’Expédition 75. Elle sera également notre interface principale avec le directeur de vol pour toutes les activités et opérations menées à bord de la Station !
