This image shows Amazonis Mensa on Mars in wider context. The nearby Eumenides Dorsum and Gordii Dorsum can be seen on either side of Amazonis Mensa within the dashed white pull-out.
The area outlined by the larger white box, on the disc of Mars itself, indicates the area imaged by the High Resolution Stereo Camera aboard ESA’s Mars Express orbiter on 14 June 2026 (orbit 28328). The smaller white box within shows the patch of surface featured in the new image released in October 2026 (also shown in the pull-out to the left).
[Image description: A full globe of Mars shown against a black background, coloured in blues, greens, yellows, and reds to show surface variation. Thin white outlines and boxes mark specific locations on the surface, giving the image a mapped, diagram-like appearance.]
