Gaia is currently being prepared at Europe Space Port for its launch in November on top of a Soyuz launcher.
This week the ESA's star mapper passed a key test in its launch campaign, the deployment of its Sun Shield.
This B roll shows this delicate operation inside Kourou's clean room. It includes a timelapse of the deployment test and interviews with Giuseppe Sarri, Gaia Project manager at ESA (English, Italian and French) and Timo Prusti, Gaia Project Scientist at ESA (English Dutch and Finnish).
