Live from Brazil! Only a few seconds behind the real action.. Thanks to communication satellites thousands of kilometres above our heads, we all get a VIP seat in the World Cup!

When you watch a World Cup match in Brazil, you’re watching the players live thanks to some amazing space technology.

"No matter what the technology that is used at the homes to receive the television, satellites are being used," underlines Xavier Lobao, Head of Future Telecommunications Projects at ESA.

Indeed without satellites there would be no world audience.

This video explains how the images of the football stadiums in Brazil come to every home around the globe equipped with a TV set or a connected screen.
