In brief

Students will learn how to assemble and program Astro Pi cameras for capturing images and videos, using a Raspberry Pi and the Python programming language. Just like Astro Pi’s Ed and Izzy on the International Space Station, there are two cameras to use in this activity: one visible camera and an infrared (or NoIR) camera. Students will explore the applications of the NoIR camera, for example to monitor Earth’s vegetation from space. This resource also supports the European Astro Pi Challenge.
