The submission deadline for the ESA 2020-2021 Climate Detectives school project has been extended! The new deadline for teams to submit their investigation plan is now on 30 November 2020.

In order for Climate Detectives to have more time to plan their investigations, the deadline for Phase 1 has been moved from 24 November to 30 November 2020. In Phase 1, teams have to register online and submit their investigation plan. After identifying a climate problem, students will plan their investigation including a research question and what Earth observation data they need to collect and analyse. Teams can choose to focus their investigations on the use of satellite imagery making use of the online tool EO Browser. Teams can also analyse historical climate data and/or take their own measurements on the ground.

Climate and Earth observation scientists will then give written feedback to all teams participating in the project! This will help the students in Phase 2 where they will investigate their proposed problem.

After sharing their results in Phase 3, the best projects will receive Climate Detective goodies and will have the opportunity to present their project in a final online event with the participation of ESA experts.

Climate Detectives is a cooperative, inquiry-based and interdisciplinary curricular school project in which students develop transversal skills such as real-world problem solving and communication and learn about Earth's climate, both as a global issue and in local environments.

We look forward to receiving your investigation plans. Join the project and help ESA making a difference to protect Earth’s Climate!

We wish all the teams, teachers and students, a safe and successful participation.
