Ready to become a Climate Detective? Join the 2023-24 challenge

With this project, you’ll be able to investigate climate change, wildfires, floods, extreme weather, sustainable ways of living, biodiversity, air quality, oceans, forests, and much more.  

Climate Detectives Kids

Our newest beginner category, Climate Detectives Kids, challenges students to complete fun hands-on activities in school or at home and earn badges to become a certified detective of our Earth and climate. You can use ESA’s educational materials and go on exciting adventures with Paxi, for example, to understand the difference between weather and climate or why there are seasons on Earth. This category is suggested for students up to 12 years old. 

Climate Detectives

If you are up for a bigger challenge, complete a full investigation of your choice. You can do this by replicating the scientific research methodology and using real satellite images and Earth Observation data like real scientists. Identify the problem you want to analyse, collect data, and share your results with the Climate Detectives community to raise awareness on a European level. This way everyone can learn from each other! Get inspired with the project gallery and see what other teams did in the last editions, use our multimedia section, or check out our mini case studies for chosen topics to see how to build up your investigation from the idea to the results. Selected teams will be invited for an exciting learning and celebration event at the end of this school year!
