Call for Interest: SMEs to participate in ESA’s CubeSat Summer School 2024 Networking Day

At the end of August, approximately 100 space engineering, science and business students will participate in ESA’s CubeSat Summer School 2024 ‘Networking Day’ at ESA ESEC-Galaxia in Belgium.  ESA is calling on companies with small satellite activities to participate in this full day event that will bring together industry, ESA VIPs and local space ecosystem from Belgium and Luxembourg into close contact with soon-to-be graduating students who participated ESA’s 4-week long CubeSat Summer School. Companies wishing to participate will be able to network, showcase business activities and opportunities, and also participate in several panel discussions. This will be a unique opportunity for companies to engage with the next generation of young professionals. 

When: 30th August 2024, all day 

Where: Euro Space Centre (ESEC-Galaxia), Belgium 

What: Company booths, panel discussions, networking lunch, 100 graduating students  

How: Submit notification of interest through form below before 31st May 2024.

Draft Schedule of the Networking Day

Morning session  Welcome speeches: ESA and ESA Education, ESA Human Resources: ESA talent acquisition section, Fly Your Satellite! team presentations, 1st industry panel discussion, networking and company booth visit session, 2nd industry panel discussion 
Break Networking lunch & company booth visit session
Afternoon session  ESA astronaut talk, certificate distribution ceremony, networking and company booth visit session, 3rd industry panel discussion, speeches from the students, closing remarks and networking cocktail

Talent pool: You will have the chance to interact with more than 100 highly skilled students specialising in CubeSat engineering, space science, physics, and business studies.

Panel Discussion: You will have the chance to participate in exciting panel discussions and  to talk about your core business activities. 

Networking:You will be able to forge connections with future space professionals, other established companies who are involved in the field as well as external delegations and ESA staff. 

Recruitment: You will have the unique opportunity to identify potential interns, employees, or collaborators. 

Who can apply?

To participate, companies must fulfil the following criteria at the time of submission:  

  • Companies operating in one of the ESA member state countries, Canada, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia or Slovenia; 
  • Companies involved in research and/or development of space-related technology, products or services*.  

*Companies with products or services related to small satellites or similar technology, will be prioritised in the final selection. 

How to apply

  1. Upload a short abstract (PDF, maximum 300 words) expressing the interest in participating to the CubeSat Summer School Networking Day;  

Important: ESA will provide to all selected companies a dedicated space (3m x 2m) and a desk with 2 chairs (2m x 1.5m), a standing round table, lunch and coffee breaks.  Companies requiring accommodation will have a hotel booked only on their behalf by ESA in Namur.  Transport from and back to Namur will be organised and paid for by ESA. Transport arrangements will be discussed ad hoc with successful applicants in due time.
