Primary school teachers from ESA Member States, Canada, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia and Slovenia are invited to apply to the training workshops that will take place at the e-technology lab in the ESA Education Training Centre (Transinne) Belgium, from April to June 2024. 

Workshops are developed based on the current ESA missions and research activities, covering the themes of Technology, Robotics, Earth Observation and Space Exploration. 

Interested teachers should apply to one workshop only in this period

The number of available places is limited, so apply now not to miss this opportunity! 

Who can apply?

The workshops are open to primary school teachers of STEM-related subjects residing and teaching in any ESA Member State. Teachers from Canada, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia and Slovenia may also apply, thanks to specific agreements with ESA. Priority will be given to teachers who have never attended any ESA Education workshop at the e-technology lab before. 

How and when to apply

Teachers wishing to participate should fill in the relevant application form available below 

The workshops and corresponding deadlines to submit applications are:

  • Teach with the Moon Workshop (Space Exploration themes) 

          - Delivery Dates: 15-16 April 2024 

          - Deadline for applying: 28 February 2023 

          - Applicants will be notified on 4 March 2023, whether successful or not.

  • Technology and Robotics Workshop 

         - Delivery Dates: 6-7 May 2024 

         - Deadline for applying: 18 March 2023 

         - Applicants will be notified on 25 March 2023, whether successful or not.

  • Teach with the Moon Workshop (Space Exploration themes) 

          - Delivery Dates: 3-4 June 2024 

          - Deadline for applying: 15 April 2023 

          - Applicants will be notified on 22 April 2023, whether successful or not.

Note: ESA reserves the right to close the application window earlier than the given deadline if a sufficient number of quality applications are received. In such case, an announcement will be posted on the ESA Education Facebook and ESA Education X pages. 

Workshop details

The workshops will take place at the ESA Education Training Centre at ESEC-Galaxia, located in Transinne, Belgium. Further information on the content of the workshop and practical details will be communicated directly to the selected teachers. 

Attention: 

  • The working language of the workshop will be English.  
  • Application submitted by the teachers should also be in English. 
  • Attendance to the entire workshop is mandatory. 

Sponsorship and costs

Selected teachers should arrange their travel from their departure point in an ESA Member State or Canada, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia or Slovenia to the location of the training course, and back to their original departure point. Travel expenses will be covered by ESA up to a maximum of 300€ per teacher. These expenses will be reimbursed to the teacher’s bank account after the event, on production of valid, original receipts. 

For the duration of the workshop, accommodation, catering, and local transportation will be organised, booked, and paid for by ESA’s Education Office. Teachers will be sharing hotel rooms. 

Teachers are responsible for their own arrangements for passports, visas, and any additional insurance required.
