N° 40–1994: ESA astronaut Ulf Merbold back to Germany

Some two weeks after his landing in the steppes of Kazakhstan aboard the Soyuz TM-19 capsule (see ESA press Release no. 39-94) which concluded the very successful 31 day long EUROMIR 94 mission, ESA astronaut Ulf Merbold is now ready to get back to Germany after having undergone the usual post flight tests within a long period of extensive scientific investigation.

On Thursday 17 November 1994, Ulf Merbold will return to ESA's European Astronaut Centre (EAC) in Cologne Germany, where he will be welcomed by ESA's top management. In the press conference that will follow, Merbold will share with the media representatives his first impressions after this unique international mission on board space station Mir. ESA astronaut Pedro Duque, from Spain, who acted as back-up and ground support during this mission, will also be present.

Media representatives wishing to meet Ulf Merbold are welcome on Thursday 17 November 1994 to the European Astronaut Centre, (DLR premises), Linder Hohe - Cologne, Germany starting at 17:00 hrs. To confirm your presence, please fill out the attached reply form and return it- preferably by fax- to:
