Aurora avionics data system standard services architecture definition
This activity was approved by the Aurora Board of Participants within the Work Plan 2005-2006 and should be initiated by the end of 2005.
A related activity was completed by two parallel contractors within the Aurora 2003 Work Plan. This activity defines the Aurora avionics architecture, suitable to support different exploration missions. This work focuses on architectures that were the most flexible possible - the architecture is easily adaptable to a large panel of Aurora missions.
The main objective of this sort of follow-up activity shall be the definition of an Aurora avionics software architecture concept able to support the Mars Sample Return mission and its requirements of onboard autonomy and dependability/availability and supported by a re-usable data system support services.
The Aurora avionics software architecture shall be based on a core of mission independent functions, including as a minimum the software controller and a standard peripheral extension.
The Aurora avionics architecture shall implement the latest onboard communication standards and standard application layer services for data handling interfaces. Data and interconnection standards shall be open and defined vertically to cover the different levels of design.
