2003: On 22 September 2003, ESA's SMART-1 spacecraft was integrated with its Ariane 5G launcher at Europe's spaceport in French Guiana. This was done in preparation for launch on board Ariana Flight 162.

SMART-1 is the first of a series of ‘Small Missions for Advanced Research in Technology’ designed to test key technologies for future spacecraft and Europe’s first mission to the Moon.
