1997: On 3 March 1997, ESA announced that its Huygens probe was ready to be shipped to the United States.

On arrival at the Kennedy Space Center in April, it underwent special tests and was then mated with the Cassini Saturn orbiter for an October 1997 launch on a Titan IVB/Centaur rocket.

After arrival at Saturn, after a seven year journey, the Huygens probe separated from the Cassini orbiter and touched down on Saturn's moon, Titan, on 14 January 2005.
