This image shows the Acheron Fossae region of Mars in wider context.
The area outlined by the larger white box indicates the area imaged by the High Resolution Stereo Camera (HRSC) aboard ESA’s Mars Express orbiter on 24 October 2024 (orbit 26273), while the smaller white box within shows the part of the surface featured in new images released in July 2025.
The martian volcano Olympus Mons can be seen as a prominent feature to the bottom-right.
In April 2025, we featured the eastern end of Acheron Fossae.
