Totality reveals structures in the corona that are shaped by the Sun's magnetic field. This means that eclipses provide a rare opportunity to test whether computer simulations accurately capture the Sun's changeable magnetic environment.
To make this kind of prediction, Predictive Science Inc. uses a complex computer model of the Sun's magnetic field. Among the many inputs for this model are measurements taken by the ESA-led Solar Orbiter mission.
